SAT Essay, 11th Grade

"Many people, in my experience, tend to enjoy the "worn path" in life. It is as though they have a map to their future, so nothing unexpected or different happens. Their lives are very monotonous and routine, a constant flow of "normality". Such a life of ease may seem appealing at first, yet there is no excitement or challenge to push that person to strive and really work to achieve anything. It becomes impossible for them to learn and grow beyond themselves, and they become ignorant to the world, even to who they are as a person.
"Adversity is necessary, as it causes a person to venture beyond their personal, comfortable, everyday realm into a world of limitless possibilities. Of course, anything new holds risks, and is generally unpredictable; however, nothing can be achieve without doing, and the only way to truly learn is through personal experience. Such adversity also helps people to discover who they are; aspects of one's self may be revealed that the person never knew of, such as personal weaknesses and strengths, the limits of their endurance, what they have real knowledge of and what they don't, all because they were required to test such things about themselves in order to overcome the challenge.
"Adversity in life in a must to lead people "to examine who we are and to question what is important in life." If people are not challenged, then how can they expect to truly experience life and even begin to reveal or simply understand it
is many mysteries, even those about themselves?"

I want to be with him, but I'm scared of him. Our fear is our greatest weakness.
